The benefits of growing your own vegetables go beyond a healthy meal. Gardening is a great stress reducer, provides exercise and helps stretch a family’s food budget. It is also great for building community, preserving green space (especially in urban areas), and beautifying neighborhoods.

In April 2011, the King County Council adopted legislation establishing an effort to connect community groups, food security organizations, and gardening enthusiasts to King County-owned lands that have the potential to be used for community gardening.

There are currently several community gardens on King County-owned lands, including three gardens in our parks: Marymoor, White Center Heights and North Green River Parks. Plots are available at the North Green River site (Kent). Please print form below to apply or visit the park to see for yourself.

For information on the community garden at Marymoor Park, visit the Marymoor Community Garden Association website. The garden at White Center Heights Park is administered by the White Center Food Bank.
