King County Wastewater Treatment Division offers a variety of programs for families and groups of all ages.

Come join us for a treatment plant tour, learn about science and art at one of our community programs, or invite our staff to have a booth at your event.

At our facilities

Individuals, families, and community groups of fewer than 10 people should register for an upcoming Saturday community treatment plant tour at South Plant or Brightwater Center. This is also the best option for home school groups, Scout troops, and other non-school-affiliated groups with children ages 9 and over.

For groups with children younger than age 9:
Brightwater Center offers volunteer docent-led programming at Brightwater Center focusing on an introduction to water systems, available for preK-2nd grade classes, home school groups, scouts, and other community groups.

King County Wastewater Treatment Division hosts a variety of community and family events at Brightwater Center and South Plant throughout the year. Programs combine time outside with hands-on science or inside art activities.

King County Wastewater Treatment Division welcomes local community groups, businesses, organizations, and individuals to volunteer at Brightwater Center and South Plant. Opportunities are both one-time and long-term, ranging from becoming a docent to lead preK-2nd grade tours to assisting with environmental restoration to tending the vegetable gardens.
