Mediterranean sage is found in limited distribution in south central counties of eastern Washington State. This particular sage species impacts western rangeland and has a wide distribution in both Oregon and Idaho. The leaves of Mediterranean sage are large and densely hairy; in the immature sage, the leaves resemble those of mullein.

Class A noxious weed. Eradication of this plant is required in King County. This species is also on the Washington quarantine list (known as the prohibited plants list) and it is prohibited to transport, buy, sell, offer for sale, or to distribute plants or plant parts, seeds in packets, blends or "wildflower mixes" of this species, into or within the state of Washington.
