ORDER PURSUANT TO PROCLAMATION OF EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, on March 1, 2020, in my capacity as King County Executive, I issued a Proclamation of Emergency regarding the significant health emergency caused by novel coronavirus, or COVID-19 in King County; and
WHEREAS, RCW chapter 38.52, and King County Code chapters 2.56 and 12.52 authorize me to exercise the emergency powers vested in me as King County Executive; and
WHEREAS, the virus continues to spread rapidly and nine (9) fatalities have occurred to date;
WHEREAS, King County provides essential services to the public; and
WHEREAS, Response to the emergency may require new and/or different demands on service;
WHEREAS, New and/or different demands for service may require additional staffing and/or changes to staffing; additional hours of operation and/or changes to hours; and
WHEREAS, the County’s available workforce may shrink from sickness, school and daycare closures; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that the County act quickly to respond to and mitigate the emergency;
THE FOLLOWING EMERGENCY ORDER IS PROCLAIMED BY THE KING COUNTY EXECUTIVE, DOW CONSTANTINE
It is hereby ordered that King County is authorized to temporarily suspend any and all provisions of its collective bargaining agreements between King County government and the unions representing King County employees during the term of the emergency.
This order shall continue in force and effect until the March 1, 2020, Proclamation of Emergency is terminated by order of the Executive or action by the King County Council by ordinance.
