Sentence Review Unit

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is committed to criminal justice reform. Our Sentence Review Unit (SRU) reviews applications for sentence review or early release.

The purpose of the Sentence Review Unit (SRU) is to grant sentence review and early release to select cases when it serves in the interest of justice. We select cases and determine whether they need resentencing after an in-depth review.

Our work includes:

Discretionary resentencing (RCW 36.27.130)
Clemency and Pardons Board (RCW 9.94A.885)
Indeterminate Sentence Review Board (RCW 9.95.100)
Non-DNA based innocence claims
Wrongful convictions
