Reserve your ride: New King County Metro service gets you around Normandy Park, and portions of Burien, SeaTac and Des Moines
As people face regional traffic woes across Puget Sound, King County Metro is launching services to help keep people moving. Residents in Normandy Park and portions of Burien, SeaTac and Des Moines will soon have a new and easy way to get around using Normandy Park Community Ride – a reservation-based service that will launch Dec. 17.

King County Metro is partnering with apps Waze Carpool and Scoop to help commuters find carpooling partners, providing more mobility options to area workers. Participants will have the opportunity for a limited time to earn discounts and incentives through participating apps beginning Dec. 3.

Riders asked to weigh in on King County Metro, Sound Transit proposals to change, improve north Eastside bus service
Facing regional growth, construction and congestion, King County Metro and Sound Transit are working with transit customers to expand transit service and improve mobility for people who live, work, or use transit in the north Eastside area of King County. Based on community feedback and in response to rider-expressed needs and priorities, changes are proposed on 13 bus routes. Several new flexible Metro Community Ride and Community Van services also are proposed.

First- and last-mile solutions: King County Metro to launch ride-hailing apps for on-demand shuttle service to transit
King County Metro will launch a pilot project that offers on-demand shuttle service to and from transit hubs throughout the region using mobile apps. The first app will be activated Oct. 23 with service to and from the Eastgate Park-and-Ride in Bellevue.

For the eighth time since 2015, King County Metro will increase bus service countywide to provide faster, more reliable service on some of the most popular routes. It will provide more peak service in Auburn, Renton, and Bellevue, more frequent service into downtown Seattle on popular routes such as the RapidRide E Line and Route 40, and expanded peak-hour service in West Seattle.

The Water Taxi will add a second boat to its normal Saturday, Aug. 11, schedule to help carry thousands of fans to and from free concerts at Alki Beach in celebration of Sub Pop Records’ 30th Anniversary. Riders should travel early and prepare for potential crowding and possible delays on each sailing and bus trip.

The nation’s foremost transit association named King County Metro the best large transit system in North America, citing achievements in ridership, safety, innovation, equity, and sustainability over the past three years.

Military personnel ride free on transit during Fleet Week
Sound Transit, King County Metro and the King County Water Taxi will continue their annual Seafair tradition of providing free transit service to members of the military July 31-August 5.

Metro, Sound Transit to run late night service for July 4 revelers
Revelers celebrating Independence Day this year will be able to ride Link trains until 2 a.m. on Thursday, July 5—an hour later than normal. For bus riders, King County Metro will deploy more than 40 extra buses from 10:30 p.m. to midnight as needed on routes serving Seattle Center, Gas Works Park, downtown and light rail stations to help crowds get home.

King County Metro, ATU Local 587 reach settlement on back wages
King County Metro and Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 587 have reached an agreement to pay transit operators back wages for all uncompensated time claims worked over the past three years. A settlement agreement outlining the details on back wages will be forwarded to the King County Council with a recommendation to affirm and approve.

Metro seeks public input on North Eastside Mobility Project
King County Metro is developing a North Eastside Mobility Project to improve transit and mobility options for the communities of Bothell, Kenmore, Kirkland, Redmond and Woodinville. The project begins with an online survey through June 24 to learn more about the transportation needs of residents and transit customers.
