Lake Alice Road to close June 22 for two-month culvert repair

Summary

Lake Alice Road near Fall City will completely close for two months starting June 22 to allow crews to remove and replace a damaged culvert beneath the road.

Story

Lake Alice Road near Fall City will completely close for two months starting June 22 to allow crews to remove and replace a damaged culvert beneath the road.

The road will close 7 a.m. Monday, June 22, just east of 339th Avenue Southeast. Drivers will follow a posted detour from the Lake Alice area to Southeast Sorenson Street and connecting streets through Snoqualmie Ridge to Snoqualmie Parkway.

Construction crews must excavate 35 feet below Lake Alice Road to remove a damaged 48-inch-diameter culvert that was discovered to have buckled in 2012. An emergency pipe was inserted in 2013 to extend the life of the culvert and protect the road until a permanent solution could be installed.

On June 22, crews will begin to excavate to make room for a new 16-foot wide by 10-foot-deep concrete box culvert, which will allow for natural stream flows to pass safely beneath Lake Alice Road without further risk of damage.
