SR 99 closure – Metro Commuter Van Promotion

Construction crews will close SR 99 for at least three weeks with some ramps and roadways closed for up to six weeks starting Jan. 11, 2019. We need your help to reduce traffic and fill seats in our commuter vans. Congestion is expected to impact travel beyond SR 99 and I-5 and even affecting travel on the Eastside. Rideshare Operations has multiple solutions to assist you during the closure and beyond.

Add a Rider – Get Rewarded:

Metro Vanpool or Vanshare groups who add a new rider during the closure could receive a $50 gift card for each new rider added, up to two rewards per group while supplies last.

  • Offer a free ride to a co-worker or neighbor or find a potential rider at RideshareOnline.com.
  • Have the new rider complete the enhanced SR 99 Ticket-2-Ride to qualify for riding in your van for FREE. The monthly fare that the group pays will cover the free ride for the new participant. Send the completed paper Ticket-2-Ride to vanpool@kingcounty.gov or fax to 206-684-2166.
  • Take a picture of your group with your new rider holding a sign that says #realign99 #NewRider. Share the picture to our Facebook page (KCMetroVans) or email it to vanpool@kingcounty.gov so we can post it on Facebook. Please include your group number so we know who to contact for your reward.
  • Within two weeks, we will send the public contact of your group a $50 gift card for your group to share to cover your coffee stops or spend on a group lunch.
  • A new rider is someone who has not participated in a vanpool program in the last 90 days.

To be eligible for the $50 gift card, all items above must be completed.  This promotion is available to every King County Metro commuter van, even if you don’t travel through the downtown Seattle corridor.  We hope your new rider will love your group and join your van permanently.  After the closure, if your new rider joins your group, please have them complete the application and send it to our office.

Join a Van – New Riders are FREE During the Closure:

Find an empty seat in a Metro Vanpool or Vanshare group and get a FREE ride during the SR 99 closure starting January 11, 2019.

  • We are enhancing our Ticket-2-Ride program so new riders to the Metro commuter van program can ride for FREE during the SR 99 closure that could last up to six weeks.
  • Find an existing Metro commuter van with an available seat at RideshareOnline.com. Confirm the work hours, pickup location and other details with the group.
  • Complete the Ticket-2-Ride form to be eligible for a FREE ride as a new rider and send the completed paper form to vanpool@kingcounty.gov - please put 'SR 99' in the subject line - or fax to 206-684-2166.
  • A new rider is someone who has not participated in a vanpool program in the last 90 days.

This promotion is available on all King County Metro Commuter Vans, even if they don’t travel through downtown Seattle.
