Three In-custody After Burglary and Shooting in Skyway

King County Sheriff Deputies have arrested three males, 2 adults and 1 juvenile, for an early morning burglary and shooting on June 14th, 2016. The three males were tracked down by a King County Sheriff K9 team not far from the Skyway area address where the shooting took place.

At 2:14AM on Tuesday June 14, 2016, King County Sheriff 911 communications received a report of a shooting in the 11600 block of Renton Ave S, in the unincorporated area of King County known as Skyway.   Deputies arrived on seen a short time later and found a male in his early 20’s, suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdomen and arm.  Medics were able to briefly treat the man at the scene before transporting him to Harborview with life threatening injuries.

Despite a language barrier, Deputies were able to determine that just prior to the shooting, two females living at the house where it occurred had heard and then saw someone trying to break into their house.  One of the females called a male relative, who lived just down the street and told him what was happening.  That male relative and a male friend rushed over to the house.

As the relative and the friend arrived at the house and were running up to the front door, the friend was shot in the driveway.  Deputies were able to get a good description of the 3 males that had been trying to break in and were at the house at the time of the shooting.   With assistance from Seattle PD and Renton PD, a perimeter was set and a King County Sheriff K9 team began to track for the suspects.

Eventually, one suspect was found a short distance away from the house, trying to get into a car.  The man could not explain why he was in the area at the time or where he had been when the shooting had occurred.

At the same time Deputies were talking to this man, a caller reported that just prior to the K9 team tracking to the man, two other males had run down the street from the same car.  The K9 team continued to track and found the other 2 suspects still running down the street.  Their clothing matched what the suspects had been wearing at the time of the shooting and burglary.  A witness positively identified the suspects as those that had been at the house when the shooting occurred.

At the time of this press release, the 3 suspects, consisting of two adults and 1 juvenile are being interviewed by King County Sheriff Major Crimes Detectives.  The witnesses are also being interviewed further by Detectives.  It is unknown at this time what if any connection there is between the suspects and victims or the address where this occurred.

No shell casings or firearms have been recovered.  Detectives are using bomb sniffing dogs to attempt to locate casings and or a firearm.

The 2 adult suspects will be booked into the King County Jail and the Juvenile suspect into the Youth Services Center for Investigation of Burglary 1st degree.

The current condition of the shooting victim is not known at this time.
