This page includes a table with regional metrics (for King, Pierce, Snohomish counties), as well as a dashboard with King County-only indicators (below). These indicators, along with many other data, are key considerations for reviewing current restrictions on activity, recommendations and precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The indicators help determine if current actions are adequate, need to be strengthened, or might be carefully relaxed.

Update 1-19-21: As outlined in the Governor’s “Healthy Washington - Roadmap to Recovery” plan, regions of the state must meet four metrics in order to move into Phase 2 and reopen more local businesses and activities. The following table shows the four metrics and the current and target numbers for those metrics for our three-county Puget Sound region (King, Pierce and Snohomish counties). The current number is updated weekly, after Washington Dept. of Health provides a statewide update on Fridays:

Roadmap to Recovery Metrics

Metric Current Number
Target Number
COVID-19 cases (per 100K population, average over two weeks) -13% Decrease more than 10%
New COVID-19 hospital admission rates (per 100K population, average over two weeks) -3% Decrease more than 10%
ICU occupancy (total — COVID-19 and non-COVID-19) 85% Less than 90%
COVID-19 test positivity rate 7% Less than 10%

The key indicators below are King County-only data. For more information on the key indicators, please see our related Public Health Insider blog post:
