Watch your mailbox for Special Election ballots

King County Elections today mailed ballots for the April 23 special election.

Story

King County Elections today mailed ballots to about 209,000 registered voters for the April 23 special election. The department estimates a 36 percent voter turnout rate.

This special election includes propositions from the Lake Washington School District, the Vashon-Maury Island Park and Recreation District, Public Hospital District No. 2, Woodinville Fire and Rescue, and King County Fire Protection Districts No. 27 and No. 40. 

“From decisions about our schools, to making choices about our healthcare systems, this special election impacts the lives of many voters,” said Julie Wise, Director of King County Elections. “Make your voice heard and return your ballot by the April 23 deadline.” 

Ballots include prepaid postage so voters do not need a stamp to return their ballots through the mail. Voters are advised to drop their ballot in the mail by the Friday before Election Day to ensure it is postmarked in time to be counted. Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, April 23. Voters can also deposit their ballots into one of 20 ballot drop boxes open for this election by 8 p.m. Election Day.

 

In-person voter registration deadline April 15

King County citizens not currently registered to vote in Washington can register in person through Monday, April 15. Registration is available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the  at the King County Elections office in Renton and from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to  4:30 p.m. at the Elections Annex downtown.
