Waste reduction and recycling (level one)
- The school increased its recycle rate from 25 percent to 40 percent.
- The school held a classroom competition for the best recyclers to help students become more aware of their choices.
- Recycling facts and tips were shared through morning announcements, as well as on a bulletin board posted in the main hallway.
- Waste reduction and recycling was promoted weekly at advisory meetings and during all-school assemblies throughout the year.
- Teacher Lauren Crater developed a Green Team with 25 students and registered them as an official King County Green Team.
- Lunch monitors stood by recycling bins to promote recycling and to help students properly sort recyclable materials and garbage. Contamination was kept at less than five percent.
- Google classroom was launched, lowering the amount of paper used in classrooms.
- The school stopped using disposable trays in September 2015.
- Recycling containers and signs were placed in the cafeteria as well as all classrooms and staff rooms.
- The school purchased recycled content paper.
