Story

Pulling from one of drive-in_movies_at_marymoorAmerica’s most celebrated pastimes of yesteryear and providing safe and fun outdoor entertainment, drive-in movies are returning to King County’s Marymoor Park on April 20 when the BECU Drive-in Movies at Marymoor opens for its second season of drive-ins and 17th season of outdoor film events.

The series will run every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through June 24. Additional dates will be added in July and August.

The timely classic “Back to the Future” opens the series on April 20, followed by the 2017 musical sensation “The Greatest Showman” on April 21, and the animated favorite “Moana” on April 22.

The series continues with family adventure in “The Goonies” on April 27, a comic trip with “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” on April 28, and the 2019 musical fantasy “Aladdin” on April 29.

In May, movie selections include “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (May 4), “Jumanji: The Next Level” (May 5), “Zootopia” (May 6), “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (May 11), “Jurassic World” (May 12), “Mamma Mia” (May 13), “Jaws” (May 18), “Grease” (May 19), and “Wayne’s World” on May 20.  Movie selections for May 25 – June 24 will be announced at a later date.

Tickets are $30 per carload and can be purchased at MoviesatMarymoor.com starting on April 1.

“We are excited to bring drive-in movies back to the Seattle area for another year,” said the event’s producer Doug Borneman of Epic Events. “We had a lot of fun last year and are excited to provide an awesome outdoor event that people can safely enjoy.

“I would especially like to thank our title sponsor, BECU, and Seattle Children’s, Warm 106.9, MOViN 92.5, and 98.9 The Bull for being such great partners,” said Borneman. “And we would not be able to do this without the dedication and support from King County Parks.”

“Outdoor movie nights have long been a popular activity for families and friends to gather and enjoy time together at King County's Marymoor Park,” said Warren Jimenez, King County Parks Director. “The drive-in movie experience is something so many of us remember fondly, King County is proud to host these events for movie-goers to enjoy a night out with their families and watch a film from the comfort and safety of their vehicle.”

King County Parks urges visitors to recreate responsibly while enjoying Marymoor Park. For more information about how King County Parks is addressing COVID-19, visit kingcountyparks.org/covid/.
