Enjoy timeless classic movies along with new favorites under the stars this summer at the First Tech Movies@Marymoor outdoor cinema.
The popular First Tech Movies@Marymoor outdoor cinema series at King County’s Marymoor Park kicks off its 11th season on July 8 with “The Goonies” and a special appearance by the Seattle Seafair Pirates. The event celebrates the 30th anniversary of this iconic movie, which was filmed in Astoria, Ore.
The series continues weekly through August. All events are dog friendly and include live entertainment, trivia, food trucks and a free glow necklace for the first 200 attendees, compliments of Overlake Medical Clinics.
Following the July 8 kickoff, the series resumes July 15 with “Dirty Dancing,” then “Raiders of the Lost Ark” on Tuesday, July 21 – which is also King County's GoGreen Night at the Movies@Marymoor, featuring special booths and displays, giveaways and more. The animated hit “Big Hero 6” is set to screen on July 29.
In August, feel the need for speed in “Top Gun” on Aug. 5; rock to “Grease” on Aug. 12; enjoy family favorite “Tangled” on Aug. 19; and be there for the conclusion of the summertime series on Aug. 26 with the Marvel hit, “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
More than just movies, the First Tech Movies@Marymoor include fresh entertainment and a veritable who’s who of food trucks. Redmond’s Knotty Yoga crew will perform Aerial acrobatics at six events and on July 29 the Seattle Freestyle Frisbee folks will showcase their Frisbee prowess.
Food trucks include Wicked Pies Pizza, Breads & Circuses gastropub, Crisp Creperie, Hallava Falafel and Los Chilangos tacos. If that’s not enough, hot kettle corn or Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt should satisfy any food cravings.
All events are on grass and “bring your own seating.” Event entry is $5 per person. Kids 5 years of age and under are free. Seating opens at 7 p.m., and movies start at dusk. Parking is $5 per vehicle.
