Recovery and Wellness Conference
In honor of National Recovery Month, King County Behavioral Health and Recovery Division is sponsoring the 2018 Behavioral Health Recovery and Wellness Conference.
The conference theme is Expect Recovery: Strengthen Health, Home, Purpose, and Community. Two nationally recognized keynote speakers will be featured and a variety of workshops that focus on the major dimensions essential to life in recovery will be offered.
Conference attendees will include people in recovery, their family members, students and service providers participating in publicly funded behavioral health services in King County. The conference will be at no cost to King County attendees and registration is required.
Nationally-Recognized Keynote Speakers
AUGUST 9: Mark Ragins, MDAs Mental Health America Village’s founding psychiatrist and medical director, Mark became one of the leading voices in recovery-based treatment theory. He is the author of numerous writings on recovery-based mental health care and is currently developing a guidebook for psychosis. Over the years Mark has won numerous awards including distinguished fellow by the American Psychiatric Association and USPRA’s John Beard award.
AUGUST 10: Tonier Cain-MuldrowTonier Cain-Muldrow is a trauma survivor and internationally recognized trauma informed care expert. Tonier’s work has focused on heightening awareness of the characteristics and effects of trauma and improving the performance of service providers, businesses, government agencies and others who interact with trauma victims and survivors. Tonier is also the subject of the award-winning film “Healing Neen.”
2018 National Recovery MonthEvery September, SAMHSA sponsors National Recovery Month to increase awareness and understanding of mental health and substance use disorders and celebrate people in recovery. To learn more, visit the National Recovery Month website.
