Members of the judiciary provided early leadership and vision for the ECR Program.  Judges throughout the state workedgavel creatively and diligently on rule changes that helped create a welcoming environment for the ECR Program.  Locally, judges on King County's Court Technology Committee worked to understand and meet the needs and expectations of King County Superior Court judges, clerks, and bailiffs.

Like the other constituencies affected by the transition to the electronic record, judges were initially somewhat divided as to whether the change would be worthwhile. Some of the judiciary were concerned about the reliability of technology, as well as the limits of their own experience.  The Clerk's Office provided support and training, and were also helped immeasurably by visionaries within the judiciary who helped communicate the tremendous potential benefits of an electronic record.
