House Majority Leader and Representative Pat Sullivan provided an update on the recently concluded legislative session to community leaders at King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer’s May “Good Eggs” breakfast at the Phoenix Rising Café in Auburn.
Representative Sullivan highlighted the areas of emphasis for this year’s session, including mental health, higher education, workforce development, long-term care for seniors, and clean energy.
The Majority Leader also engaged the group in discussion, answering questions regarding the process of electing a new Speaker, the need to partner with the federal government on shovel ready infrastructure projects in our state, and a holistic approach to business development in South King County.
This year, the state invested $175 million in the Housing Trust Fund, to help address homelessness, addressed the backlog in funding the state need grant, and made large investments in the state’s head start program.
