Teens invited to join Youth Advisory Council

Summary

Councilmember Lambert hosts initial meeting Sept. 29

Story

Metropolitan King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert wants to help youth become more informed and involved with public issues and government.

Middle school and high school age youth who live in King County Council District 3 are invited to join Councilmember Lambert for an initial workshop to form a Youth Advisory Council. The program is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Fall City. To register, please call (206) 296-0331.

“I am extremely interested in the issues that young people face today, and in how to get youth involved in the public policy decisions that will affect them and their friends and families for many years to come,” said Councilmember Lambert.

This a roundtable event that will provide an opportunity for teens to learn about the operation of King County government, as well as to share their thoughts about issues important to them, and about how to implement a Youth Advisory Council. The program will include an overview of government roles by Councilmember Lambert, roundtable discussion of issues such as teen homelessness and transportation, sharing thoughts about goals and objectives, and refreshments.

Anyone interested in participating can contact Councilmember Lambert’s office for more information at (206) 296-1003 or Kathy.Lambert@kingcounty.gov.
