Ferguson: “Grateful for diligent effort of law enforcement to protect our communities”

Summary

Story

Metropolitan King County Councilmember Bob Ferguson, Chair of the Council’s Law, Justice, Health and Human Services Committee, released this statement following the arrest of four people in connection with the gang-related shooting at a July car show in Kent:

“I know that law enforcement officials have been working around the clock to identify those involved in the July car show shooting that injured 12 people and threatened the safety of families and children. I am grateful for their diligent effort to protect our communities.

“These arrests underscore the importance of the County’s recent investment of $1.4 million from the criminal justice reserve fund to combat gang violence. As I advocated early this year, additional resources are critical to addressing the growing gang violence problem in our region.

“Equally critical is the additional investment the Council has made in intervention programs. By offering a better future to our kids, we can keep them from becoming involved in gangs and help prevent youth violence.”
