Will also continue on Budget Leadership Team, Law and Justice Committee
StoryBeginning a new term of office, Metropolitan King County Councilmember Kathy Lambert has new authority to set the agenda for county operational policy as chair of the Council’s Government Accountability and Oversight Committee. The new committee assignment was part of today’s 2010 committee reorganization.
“The work of this committee covers a broad range of King County’s central services, including elections, technology management, licensing and animal control,” said Lambert. “I am especially interested in improving customer service and the cost-effectiveness of county operations, particularly through the efficiencies that technology offers, such as online forms. I am honored by this opportunity to provide leadership for King County to meet the challenges of providing core services during a period of fiscal constraint.”
The Government Accountability and Oversight Committee considers policy matters concerning a variety of county services, including the departments of assessments, elections, records and licensing, animal control, cable communications, telecommunications, facilities management, purchasing and wastewater treatment, as well as programs such as risk management and performance management. The committee also has oversight of the King County Fair and the King County International Airport (Boeing Field).
Councilmember Lambert also will continue to serve as a member of the Law, Justice, Health and Human Services Committee, after serving as chair of the committee for the last three years. In addition, she will serve as vice chair of the Budget and Fiscal Management Committee, and will serve again on the Budget Leadership Team reviewing the annual budget. She also continues as vice-chair of the Employment and Administration Committee and as a member of the Regional Water Quality Committee and a number outside committees.
