Permitting Department office opened at new location in Snoqualmie.

The newly renamed Department of Permitting and Environmental Review is now located at 35030 S.E. Douglas St., Suite 210, Snoqualmie, WA 98065-9266.  This new east King County location is more convenient for a majority of its customers compared to its former Renton offices.  The move is one of the many customer improvement changes made by the department in the last two years.  Click here for map with directions.

King County expands permitting hours for Vashon and Maury Island.

This morning, Tuesday, February 26th, was the beginning of new office hours that will allow Vashon and Maury island residents to get more service more frequently from King County's Permitting Department.  The Vashon-Maury Island office is located at the Vashon-Maury Island Community Service Center at 19021 Vashon Hwy. S.W., Vashon, WA 98070.  Going forward, Permitting staff will be available every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to answer questions and to take in a variety of residential, agricultural and commercial building permit applications.  Previously, the office was only open once per month.

"County staff are looking forward to serving Vashon and Maury Island residents at home in  their own community," said Director John Starbard.  "Today's expanded office hours have kicked-off a spirit of more convenient service, and we are happy to help people navigate the permitting process however we can."

The new expanded service is part of the department's customer service improvement initiative.  Last fall the department moved to Snoqualmie from its long-time offices in Renton.  While the move will save the department money and puts the main office closer to a majority of its customers, it makes it a longer drive for Vashon and Maury island residents.  Additionally, on the 1st Tuesday of each month, a code enforcement officer will also be available.  The expanded hours will include the following services:

  • General information and helpful advice on permitting
  • Property specific information and interpretation on past history
  • Intake of new ready-to-submit permit applications and fees (required and passed Pre-Submittal Services (PSS))
        Residential building permits
        Agricultural building permits
Small commercial building permits (w/coordinated pre-zoning)
        Grading permits
  • Intake of PSS applications and fees
  • Intake of Critical Area Designations and fees
  • Intake of over-the-counter permits and fees
  • Submittal of revisions, additional, data on existing permit applications
  • Issuance of approved permits & payment of outstanding fees
  • Delivery of approved PSS and CADs
