The core function of government is to protect the people it serves. As part of the 2008 budget, the Metropolitan King County Council made the proactive decision to help protect county residents from future flood disasters. Given the topography of our region, our average annual rainfall and our susceptibility to major flooding along our county's floodplains, an increased investment in flood protection was the right choice for our region. Auburn Annexation check ceremony

$1.25 million check to Auburn is first from annexation incentive fund

Auburn's mayor was presented a giant version of a $1.25 million check from King County today to help pay for expenses related to annexing 4,000 acres of land and 15,000 new residents from unincorporated King County. Auburn is the first city to receive money from the county's $10 million annexation incentive fund and also received $500,000 in road improvements.  Learn More...
