Captain Dan, our senior captain, earned his captain’s license in 1985. Since then he has served as a managing captain, consulting captain, port captain, and instructing captain, as well as vessel and facility security officer, on passenger vessels in Puget Sound, Southeast Alaska, Hawaii, and Trinidad. From 2005 through 2007, he piloted the Melissa Ann when she and her sister ship, the Rachel Marie, were passenger-only ferries serving Bremerton and Seattle. |

Captain Neal is a former U.S. Coast Guard navigator and deck officer who has worked on research vessels, towing vessels, and passenger ferries. He recently operated a fast ferry for the U.S. Navy, transporting service men and women between Everett and Bremerton. |

Captain Tara became a captain after becoming popular as the senior deckhand on the Water Taxi’s Vashon Island/downtown Seattle route. She had two years of experience as a marine operator on a small vessel that pre-boomed tugs and barges in Elliott Bay, and many years of experience as a deckhand and able-bodied seaman. |

Captain Brad came to the King County Water Taxi from Hawaii, where he operated a passenger vessel for Pacific Whale Foundation. He worked his way up to captain through the ranks of first mate, deckhand, purser, and naturalist. Brad began his career as a mariner with the YMCA’s Camp Orkila in the San Juan Islands. | To top Deckhands

Aaron transferred from the Water Taxi’s Vashon Island/downtown Seattle route to the West Seattle/downtown Seattle route to serve as senior deckhand, much to the regret of Vashon passengers. For the previous seven years, Aaron was a deckhand for Washington State Ferries on passenger-only ferries. |

Alex began his career as a deckhand in 1997 on traditionally rigged sailboats. He worked on sail training vessels throughout the Great Lakes and the Caribbean, and as a deckhand and guide in Alaska. He is working towards his master’s degree in marine affairs at the University of Washington. |

Chad brings a wealth of experience with passenger vessels to the Water Taxi system. He formerly was a captain for Ride the Ducks Tours; a chief mate and relief captain for Cruise West passenger vessels in Alaska, British Columbia, Oregon and Mexico; and a navigator for the U.S. Coast Guard. |

Frank joined the King County Water Taxi from Argosy Cruises, where he worked as a deckhand for two years. Frank previously worked in Alaska as a wilderness guide/vessel operator and as a deckhand. He holds a Merchant Mariners license. |

Jade graduated from Seattle Maritime Academy in 2005 with an able-bodied seaman’s license. Since then, he has worked as a deckhand for Majestic America Lines (passenger cruises in the Columbia River and Southeast Alaska), Global Diving and Salvage, and Polar Tankers, Inc. |

Jeff joined the Water Taxi from San Diego, where he was a captain at Hornblower Cruises and Events for four years. Before that, he served as chief mate with Seattle’s Cruise West, cruising all major waterways between Prince William Sound and the Sea of Cortez. | To top Engineers

Ron, a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed chief engineer (Oceans Unlimited-horsepower), has 17 years of experience aboard various private and publicly run ferry vessels. |

Vik joined the Water Taxi from Washington State Ferries, where he worked as an oiler and assistant engineer. Vik has 20 years of prior experience as chief engineer and port engineer for Clipper Navigation. | To top
