King County Road Services - Washington Traffic Safety Commission 2010 Target Zero Traffic Safety Award winner!

On Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) honored King County traffic safety professionals for their outstanding contributions to traffic safety. The King County Department of Transportation, Road Services Division, also received honors for improved road safety. The awards ceremony took place at the Lacey Community Center in Lacey, WA.

For the 25th year, the WTSC recognized outstanding citizens who go beyond their job duties and make necessary contributions, changes, and improvements that affect everyone’s safety on our roads.

The Traffic Engineering and Maintenance Section was recently awarded a Target Zero Traffic Safety Award in the "Run-Off-Road Crashes" category from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission for its work to improve the safety of two country roadways – S.E. Lake Holm Road near Auburn and N.E. Novelty Hill Road near Redmond. The project used vehicle-activated flashers, driver feedback signs, and in-road lights to improve safety on two county roads with a history of run-off-road collisions.
