What is the road right-of-way?
Land, property or property interest acquired for or devoted to transportation purposes. Right-of-way acquisition for a project may include right-of-entry, temporary easements, permanent easements, partial takes, and or total takes. How can I establish a Road Improvement District (RID)?
A Road Improvement District is a way to form a local improvement district to pay for improving local and neighborhood roads. Call 206-296-6522 for more information. How does a Road Improvement District work?
Since tax dollars generally do not pay for road, sidewalk and lighting improvements, except on arterials, Road Improvement Districts (RIDs) are a useful method for making these types of improvements. If you live in a flood prone location, the County strongly recommends that you be well prepared for the flood season. This would include purchasing sand and sandbags in advance of flood season. The King County Road Services does not provide sand and sandbags. Contact the One-Call Utilities Locate Center at 1-800-424-5555. You will need to provide them with the day the work was done, an address, a cross street, city, county and state (state is obvious to us, but this center serves a large geographic area). Call-Before-You-Dig is part of a national program that seeks to avoid the results of accidentally hitting utility pipes during excavation. These accidents are always costly and can result in serious injuries or death. It doesn't make any difference whether you are a contractor or an individual, call before you dig. It doesn't cost you anything to have someone come out an mark your lines, but it will cost you if you don't have the lines marked and you damage one. King County Road Services Division annually schedules its roadside weed control program for the unincorporated areas of the county and in some cities by contract. As part of the program, licensed technicians perform controlled herbicide spraying along some road shoulders starting in the spring and going through the summer. The spraying is performed to help reduce safety hazards for pedestrians, motorists and bicyclists. The spraying also controls noxious weeds that are toxic to some animals and pose environmental risks to native vegetation. Learn more. |
