Who do I call to report abandoned cars, trailers or boats? Who do I contact about furniture or appliances dumped on the side of the road? Please contact the King County 24/7 Road Helpline at 206-296-8100 or call the Illegal Dumping Hotline toll-free at 1-866-431-7483. If the furniture or appliances pose an imminent risk, Road Services staff will be dispatched to remove them. Furniture and appliances that are on the side of the road which do not pose an imminent risk are removed as priorities dictate. Who do I contact about bus stops on the side of the road that need cleaning? Please contact King County Metro Transit at 206-553-3060. Who do I contact about car batteries left on the side of the road? Please contact the King County 24/7 Road Helpline at 206-296-8100 or toll-free at 1-800-KCROADS. During business hours Road Services staff will be dispatched to remove batteries that pose an imminent risk. After hours and for batteries that do not pose an imminent risk, the batteries will be picked up the next day. Batteries that we remove are recycled. Who do I contact about a dead animal on the side of the road? Who do I contact about barrels left on the side of the road which appear to be leaking something? Please contact the King County 24/7 Road Helpline at 206-296-8100 or toll-free at 1-800-527-6237. Road Services will send out an investigator to determine the contents. For certain materials (oil, water, paint, antifreeze, etc.) we will handle the clean-up. We will coordinate with Washington State's Spill Response Team on the clean-up of unknown substances. The state's team will visit the site, assess the hazardous material, and depending on the danger, either they or Road Services staff will remove the barrel(s) and clean up the spill. Who do I contact if my neighbor is putting cut debris into the ditch? Please call the King County 24/7 Road Helpline at 206-296-8100 or 1-800-527-6237. Road Services staff will meet with the homeowner and explain that this is an illegal use of the roadway. If applicable the information will be forwarded to other county agencies for their response. How do I get a "no dumping" sign? Please contact Traffic Engineering at 206-296-6596. Who do I contact about roadside debris? If the debris does not pose an imminent threat, staff will be dispatched to investigate and schedule the removal work as priorities dictate. Who do I contact about trees and debris in a ditch? Please contact the Road Services Division at 206-296-8100 or toll-free at 1-800-KCROADS. Division staff will respond the same day if flooding. If no flooding, staff will respond as priority dictates.
