King County Road Services - Adopt-A-Road Program previously featured volunteers
"Your Neighbors and Friends" — Group #769"Your Neighbors & Friends" originated when Irana Hawkins, tired of seeing so much litter at a bus stop nearby, asked a couple of neighbors to adopt a road with her through King County. Through word of mouth and to the delight of all, 20 people came to the first meeting, and this group has been cleaning Skyway since 2001. "Your Neighbors & Friends" are our most prolific Adopt-a-Road group, with over 25 cleanups to their name! In addition to two yearly community-wide cleanups that involve the folks at the local fire station and members of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post, these volunteers perform frequent cleanups, often using their own trucks to gather heavy loads into a single pick-up site for the County. They do a great job, and we love having them with the program. Interested in seeing your Adopt-A-Road volunteer group's photos online? E-mail photos of your group to the Adopt-A-Road Coordinator.
