2011 High Priority Investments Identification

The PSRC has charged each of the four Countywide Committees to update the priority list of projects that were developed in response to the Washington State Transportation Commission (WSTC) request in 2010.

The purpose of this exercise is to develop an illustrative ten year list of priorities from the four county region to send to the legislature for possible future funding that may result due to the work begin conducted by the Governor’s Connecting Washington Task Force.

To help facilitate the exercise the PSRC has decided to use a target funding range for the region, with proportional allocations among the four counties

  • The range was decided to be $1 billion on the low end, and $2 billion on the high end, representing investments over a 10-year period
  • The targeted break down by County is as follows:

County

April 1, 2011 OFM Population %

Amount of $1b target

Amount of $2b target

King

52.282%

$522,816,000

$1,045,632,000

$385,936,000

Total

$2,000,002,000

These lists are to be focused on:
  • Local roadway needs, including preservation and maintenance
  • Other project types such as nonmotorized or ITS may be included as priorities within each counties area target amounts, at the discretion of each countywide group.
  • Transit needs and state projects will be above and beyond these targets, and while these agencies are conducting separate processes, each countywide may choose to identify projects within those categories that are important to their area.
  • The ten year time period that we are looking at projects is 2012 to 2022.
