May 23, 2012 Metro Transit on holiday schedule for Memorial Day
Special bus service to Folklife Festival offered from two locations
Metro Transit will operate a Sunday schedule for Memorial Day on Monday, May 28. And, it will be offering special shuttle bus service Saturday through Monday to the Folklife Festival at the Seattle Center from both the Northgate Transit Center and South Renton Park-and-Ride.
Other holiday transit service notes:
- The West Seattle Water Taxi route will be operating a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, as will DART shuttle routes 773 and 775.
- The Vashon Island Water Taxi route will not be in service on Monday; and
- On Memorial Day, both the South Lake Union Streetcar and Link light rail will operate a Sunday schedule.
For Metro bus service, if a bus route does not normally operate on Sunday, there will be no service on Memorial Day. All Metro offices will be closed on the holiday, including the customer information phone lines. You can use the online Trip Planner for travel assistance.
The special Folklife shuttles serve the Seattle Center at the eastbound bus stop on Mercer Street at Third Avenue North. The shuttles stop at Bay 5 at Northgate and make limited stops along Aurora Avenue North at North 105th Street, North 85th Street, North 76th Street, and North 46th Street. The Renton shuttle will use Bay 1 at the park-and-ride and does not make any stops between there and the Seattle Center.
The cash-only shuttle fare is $2.50 each way. Metro transfers, passes and ORCA cards are not accepted on the special Folklife shuttle. Children 5 and under ride free.
There is no shuttle service on Friday, the first day of the festival, but there are also several other routes that provide bus service to the Seattle Center or close by. Please visit Metro Online for information on Metro Transit’s routes, schedules, and trip planning.
