Construction will limit some parking at the South Kirkland Park-and-Ride

Staging begins Monday for construction of new transit center and garage

Beginning Monday, July 9, a two-year construction project will get underway at King County Metro Transit’s South Kirkland Park-and-Ride. The park-and-ride will remain open, but the construction activity could temporarily reduce the number of parking spaces for bus riders.

A portion of the lot, which is located on the Kirkland-Bellevue border near State Route 520, is being redeveloped with a new transit center and new park-and-ride garage along with other Transit Oriented Development. The garage is scheduled to open in the spring of 2013.

The number of parking spaces available will fluctuate during the next two years, but the park-and-ride will continue to be served by Metro routes 234, 235, 249, 255 and ST Express Route 540.

Additional parking is available in the following nearby locations, which are served by multiple bus routes:
• On weekdays from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., 61 parking spaces will be available on the Northwest University campus at 6710 108th Ave NE; and
• At the Houghton Park-and-Ride, located east of Interstate at 7024 116th Ave. NE.
