May Creek Bridge to close after June 21
Project will also cause lengthy closure of SE May Valley Road
The King County Road Services Division will close the May Creek Bridge – located on Southeast May Valley Road just east of State Route 900 – during the week of June 21. The bridge and road will be closed through the summer, while county crews build a new bridge.
Originally constructed in 1950, the bridge no longer meets current road safety standards and its timber supports are decaying. The replacement bridge will have a wider roadway, improved sight lines, and have wider shoulders for pedestrians and bicycles.
During the closure, motorists can detour via: Southeast 128th Way; Southeast 128th Street; 164th Avenue Southeast; and SR 900 (Renton-Issaquah Road).
