Lengthy road closure east of Woodinville begins June 14
The King County Road Services Division will close a section of 155th Avenue Northeast in the Hollywood Hills area east of Woodinville for a two-month repair project.
An aging culvert underneath the roadway is failing and must be replaced. Beginning Monday, June 14, the county will close 155th Avenue Northeast between Northeast 146th Place to Northeast 150th Street. The work is expected to be completed by the end of August.
The lengthy, full closure of the roadway is necessary because county crews must temporarily divert the stream that runs through the culvert, install a shoring wall, coordinate with Puget Sound Energy on the impacts to a nearby natural gas line, remove the old culvert, excavate a 35-foot deep by 30-foot wide trench for the new culvert, and then repave the road and restore the work area.
During the closure, motorists can detour via 168th Avenue Northeast and follow the detour signs.
