Metro buses moving through Sunday morning snow

Snow began falling in parts of King County early Sunday morning, and by 9 a.m. was being reported in multiple locations particularly in the higher hills.

King County Metro Transit reported no disruptions to service as of mid-morning, but staff in the field are watching closely for changing conditions.

The King County Department of Transportation is also advising motorists of the possibility of slushy roadways, especially near the foothills. And later today, the forecast calls for more bad weather. Strong winds, expected to move through the area this afternoon and evening, may cause additional travel problems due to downed tree limbs and power lines.

So if you are traveling today, be aware of these rapidly changing conditions, be extra cautious when driving, and be prepared for a variety of weather problems. You can check online for King County road closures.

If travel conditions worsen in your neighborhood and you plan to ride the bus today, please check Metro Online's adverse weather link to see if service is being delayed or disrupted. Remember to refresh your browser with each visit to the web page, because the status of bus service can change quickly.

Currently, the buses are operating normally. As information about delays and disruptions becomes available, it will be posted on Metro Online. Look for the link to the adverse weather information at the top center of the page. The Metro Customer Information Office offers 24/7 telephone service at (206) 553-3000.

Metro also has two new tools for sharing information about service disruptions. There is a new King County blog  and a Twitter account to both receive and share information about the travel conditions and bus service in your neighborhood.
