He popped the question, and she said yes
Marriage proposals can be pretty unusual, but Troy Kleweno gets really high marks for turning King County Metro Transit’s Route 308 into a love bus. So why choose the Route 308 from downtown Seattle to Lake Forest Park to pop the question? The answer goes back three years when both Kleweno and his girlfriend first laid eyes on each other. It was a regular commute home from work on the 308. Six long months later, Troy finally mustered the courage to say hello. Three conversations after that, phone numbers were exchanged and sometime later, Troy Kleweno and Christie Hsieh became a couple. Troy and Christie have long since stopped taking the Route 308. Both now commute to jobs in different parts of the county. So when thinking recently about the perfect way to pop the question, Troy’s thoughts returned to the 308. Tuesday afternoon, Troy devised a story to bring the two back to downtown Seattle. With a little pre-planning from Metro, the stage was set. When the 308 reached Lake City Way, Troy made his way up to the front of the bus, and using the bus intercom system, asked Christie for her hand. The rest of the story is what memories are made of. Troy got on his knee, a teary-eyed Christie said yes – and the bus erupted into cheers. It was a commute home on the Love Bus folks won’t soon forget – and a new beginning for a journey that began on the 308. |
