King County proposes raising speed limit on section of 244th Avenue Southeast near Lake Francis
The King County Road Services Division will hold a public hearing Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in Maple Valley to gather public comment on a proposal to raise the speed limit on a 1.25-mile stretch of 244th Avenue Southeast near Lake Francis.
The division is considering raising the speed limit from 25 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour on 244th Avenue Southeast from Southeast 192nd Street to approximately 1,600 feet north of Southeast 177th Street. A traffic analysis was recently performed, and division engineers found the current speed limit is inconsistent with the roadway and area’s character.
The hearing will be held at the Taylor Creek Church, 21110 244th Ave. SE, Maple Valley. Comments will also be accepted through Friday, Nov. 9, and should be forwarded to Scott Sawhill; MS: KSC-TR-0222, 201 S. Jackson Street, Seattle, WA, 98104-3856.
Comments can also be faxed to (206) 296-0176 or emailed. For more information, call the Traffic Engineering Section at (206) 263-6134.
