Bus reroutes continue around University Bridge closure
King County Metro Transit is expecting to continue reroutes on six bus routes serving the Eastlake area south of the University Bridge in Seattle at least through the afternoon commute. The bridge was closed earlier today after a water main ruptured underneath the bridge.
Metro routes 49, 66, 70, 71, 72 and 73 are currently affected. If the bridge is not reopened today, Metro's Route 83 Night Owl will be affected overnight. Detailed information about these reroutes is available on Metro Online, or by calling Metro’s Rider Information Office at (206) 553-3000.
Once the bridge is reopened, it could take up to two hours for the buses to return to normal routing.
Although the reroutes primarily affect people traveling to and from the Eastlake area and north Capitol Hill, Metro is advising afternoon commuters to expect traffic congestion throughout the University District, South Lake Union, Capitol Hill, and any of the bridges crossing the ship canal and Montlake Cut. Other bus routes serving those areas may be delayed by the congestion. Your patience is appreciated.
