King County proposes reducing the speed limit on four streets near Enumclaw
The King County Road Services Division will hold a public hearing Thursday, April 5 at 11 a.m. in downtown Seattle to gather public comment on a proposal to lower the speed limit on four streets near Enumclaw.
Speed limit reductions are proposed for: Southeast 464th Street; 286th Avenue Southeast; Southeast 472nd Street; and 288th Avenue Southeast. All are south of the King County Fairgrounds in Enumclaw.
The division is considering lowering the speed limit from 35 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour on:
- Southeast 464th Street, from 284th Avenue Southeast to 286th Avenue Southeast;
- 286th Avenue Southeast, from Southeast 464th Street to Southeast 472nd Street;
- Southeast 472nd Street, from 286th Avenue Southeast to 303rd Avenue Southeast; and
- 288th Avenue Southeast, from Southeast 472nd Street to Southeast 480th Street.
The Road Services Division recently conducted a traffic study in the area in response to citizen concerns about speeding and pedestrian safety. The analysis concluded the current speed limit should be lowered to improve traffic and pedestrian safety.
The hearing will be held in Room 2A of King Street Center, 201 South Jackson Street, Seattle.
