King County proposes reducing speed limit on a section of Southeast Issaquah Fall City Road/Southeast Duthie Hill Road
The King County Road Services Division will hold a public hearing at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11 in downtown Seattle to gather public comment on a proposal to lower the speed limit on a two-mile stretch of Southeast Issaquah Fall City Road/Southeast Duthie Hill Road.
The division is considering lowering the speed limit from 45 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour on Southeast Issaquah Fall City Road between Issaquah Pine Lake Road Southeast and Southeast Duthie Hill Road and on Southeast Duthie Hill Road between Southeast Issaquah Fall City Road and Southeast Issaquah Beaver Lake Road. A traffic study was recently performed in response to citizen concerns about speeding and pedestrian safety, especially in the vicinity of the Pacific Cascade Freshman Campus. The analysis concluded the current speed limit should be lowered to be more consistent with the area’s neighborhood character.
The hearing will be held in Room 2A of King Street Center, 201 South Jackson Street, Seattle. Written comments will also be accepted through Oct. 6, 2006 and should be forwarded to Scott Sawhill, 201 South Jackson Street MS: KSC-TR-0222, Seattle, WA, 98104-3856. Comments can also be faxed to (206) 296-0176 or emailed to: scott.sawhill@kingcounty.gov For more information, call the Traffic Engineering Section at (206) 263-6134.
