Metro prepares for forecast of more snow

With today’s forecast calling for more snow, Metro Transit is chaining up buses for afternoon and evening travel. If travel conditions deteriorate, bus riders should expect delays in service.

As with this morning’s commute, some Metro bus routes this afternoon and evening will be on snow reroutes. This means the buses will avoid traveling on hills and areas that are dangerously icy or impassable due to other conditions.

Because weather and road conditions can change quickly, it is hard to predict in advance of the storm which buses will be rerouted and if schedules will be delayed. If travel in your area is impacted by snow and ice, or is in hilly areas, expect buses to be on snow reroutes. See Metro Online for pre-established snow routing for specific bus routes.

Throughout today there were many bus routes operating via their normal routes; however, most were operating with chains, longer travel times, and short reroutes to avoid slick areas.

Metro advises passengers to dress warmly for their wait at bus stops, and to be patient. Buses could be delayed by travel conditions. Riders should avoid waiting for buses on inclines or the middle of a hill. Instead, board buses on flat portions of arterial roads, at park-and-ride lots and transit centers, or other major transfer points.
