ROAD ALERT SPOTLIGHT
Heavy rain causing urban flooding, slide problems in some areas of King County
The King County Road Services Division is alerting motorists that the latest rainstorm that moved through the area has caused local flooding and road closures in some areas of the county. Currently, the county reports two roads closed; a section of Southeast 24th Street north of Fall City and a portion of Northeast 165th Street near Redmond.
While no major road problems are being reported at this time, the county is responding to several small landslides in addition to a large slide on Lake Dorothy Road, a remote road providing recreational and forest service access to the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest east of North Bend. The slide, which occurred earlier this morning, caused the road to drop several feet. The section of road, located near the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River, is expected to be closed indefinitely. Given the remoteness of the area, the county does not believe any homes haven been impacted or cut off.
