Metro seeks input on plans for Redmond park-and-ride garage

King County Metro Transit is looking for public input on its plans to build a three-story parking garage near the current Redmond Park-and-Ride lot at 8178 161st Ave. NE.

An open house will be held Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. so that the public can get more information about the project and make comments. The open house will be held at the Redmond Regional Library, 15990 NE 85th St.

Preliminary plans call for a 386-stall garage to be built on a 1.4-acre portion of the current park-and-ride lot. Transit service would be provided at a new transit center on the opposite side of Northeast 83rd Street. A new crosswalk would provide safe pedestrian crossing between the two, and sidewalks would be improved along the street fronting the garage.

During construction of the garage in 2008, interim parking for bus passengers will be provided at a yet-to-be-determined location.
