Inside Transportation is designed to help you understand how the King County Department of Transportation serves the public and how to take advantage of the transportation options available to you. It is a presentation of the King County Department of Transportation Public Affairs Unit.

Hung out to dry - After another year of record flooding, county crews are still working to repair roads and slides that resulted. Initial estimates put the flooding damage around $10 to $12 million. At Metro, saving time and money is 'part' and parcel - With a fleet of more than 1,300 buses, keeping track of all the bus parts in the fleet is a complicated job. But it's one with a definite upside, as Metro Transit is able to save many man hours and plenty of money by remanufacturing used parts in-house, and saving up to 90% on some parts as a result.

Declining tax revenue paints a gloomy picture for Metro Transit - With about 60% of its total revenue coming from sales tax, the country's economic downturn has hit Metro Transit's funding very hard.
