Inside Transportation is designed to help you understand how the King County Department of Transportation serves the public and how to take advantage of the transportation options available to you. It is a presentation of the King County Department of Transportation Public Affairs Unit.

Inside Transportation airs on KCTV at the following times:

Metro's debuted the new RapidRide stops and coach prototype recently.

Rapidly approaching 'RapidRide' - When King County voters passed the 'Transit Now' initiative in November of 2006, Metro Transit quickly got to work developing a bus rapid transit system, which it branded 'RapidRide'. The service will provide 10-minute frequency during peak commute periods and 15-minute frequency off-peak. The stops will feature displays with real-time bus information.

The ORCA card is now available.

The ORCA card is here - It aptly stands for 'One Regional Card for All'. The ORCA card allows you to pay your fare on seven different regional transit systems. It works on the bus, ferry, commuter rail and light rail. You can keep your card loaded online, or even set up automatice payments from your credit card. With ORCA, paying your transit fare is easier than ever.

A King County Fire Fighter starts the stair climb.

Climbing to curtail cancer - For the first time ever, firefighters from King County International Airport took part in a stair climb at Seattle's Columbia Tower to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma research and patient care. For the half hour it took to climb 69 flights and about 2,300 steps, the Airport Rescue Firefigthers were part of a record year as the climb raised over $500,000.

A Metro rep thanks riders.

A major Metro milestone - County and Metro leaders visited select locations March 31st to say thanks to Metro riders for helping to reach the milestone of 3,000,000,000 rides. Metro began operations on January 1st, 1973, and now provides about 400,000 trips every day.
