ACTION! KCIA stars in local film
Narrator Says: Call it a walk-on role if you will, except it’s the actors who are walking on King County International Airport. The airport is one of the locations chosen for an entry in Seattle International Film Festival''s “Fly Film Making Challenge.” The film is called “War and Peace” and focuses on families and servicemen saying goodbye. The airport remained open during shooting. The actors and crews rolled with activity around them and some rain as well, which forced a few last second script changes. SIFF Movie Director Douglas Horn Says: I love rain, it's great, it's great. This is a story that is set in Seattle and if we didn't have any rain in our movie I don't think anyone would believe it is actually set here. For our final scene we want to shoot a military send off where her son is actually sent off to Iraq and it's her last chance to maybe make peace with him before he actually leaves the country. We thought this looked like a great location for a small military airport or maybe a regional airport that the sendoff would go from. Narrator Says: The films are shot 'on-the-fly', with film makers creating their story while following some predetermined conditions including having only five days to shoot and five days to edit a total of 10 minutes of screen time.
