The King County International Airport Rescue Firefighters took part in the annual Columbia Tower Stair Climb to benefit Leukemia and Lymphoma treatment and research. The airport's big, new ally

It's a firefighter's best friend and King County International Airport just took delivery of one. The airport's new Oshkosh Striker is 43-feet-long, 10.5-feet-wide, and weighs 81,000 pounds. It has all the latest in firefighting technology and will help the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters at the airport respond to any possible emergencies.

Without Boeing Field, it's safe to say Seattle and King County would be much different places. As it so happens, Bill Boeing, Jr. was on hand for the airport's birth and 80th birthday. Today, the airport is alive and thriving supporting about 10,000 jobs, housing 150 businesses, and hosting 500 based aircraft.

They're a staple of the Seafair Hydroplane Race weekend on Lake Washington, and the turnout at  King County International Airport proves it. The Blue Angels have been performing for more than 60 years now, and when they cruise through Seattle, KCIA plays host to the high-flying aeronautic acrobats.

Del spent almost 30 years working various jobs at  Boeing Field and his notebook has many of the details chronicled with pictures and descriptions of the people he met and places he worked over all that time.
