King County Metro is working to encourage you to explore your new transportation options in southeast Seattle. The In Motion program provides information to help you navigate changes in service by partnering with local communities to encourage neighbors to use healthier travel options like the bus, light rail or train, carpooling, bicycling, and walking.

Southeast Seattle In Motion Community Partnerships help get transportation information to those who need it:

In addition to the 15,000 translated mailers that were sent out to southeast neighborhoods, In Motion has also partnered with the Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA) which will provide one on one translation support for anyone needing more information in Somali, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, or Spanish. ReWA, theSomali Community Center, Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) and the Chinese Information Service Center (CISC) will all be using In Motion materials in their ESL and/or citizenship classes this fall. In Motion is also working with five area schools to help ensure families get the information they need to get around.

About In Motion:

In the past five years, In Motion has worked with King County residents to save over 60,000 gallons of gas and 588 tons of CO2! Over 7,000 people have participated in past programs changing 88,000 drive alone trips to other ways of getting around.

Major funding for In Motion programs is provided by city and federal grants to specifically create awareness of travel options and influence choices in travel behavior.

If you live, work, or shop in the area and want to pledge to drive less, click on your neighborhood below!
