  • Transit Now—Approved by voters in November 2006, Transit Now added one-tenth of a cent to the sales tax to fund a set of Metro Transit service expansions. These were carried out on schedule through 2009, but the economic downturn caused a steep drop in Metro's revenues. When it adopted Metro's 2010-2011 budget, the King County Council agreed that Transit Now funds would be used to maintain existing service instead of continuing to add new service, with two exceptions (RapidRide and service partnerships).
