Wonder what we’re putting in the air?
KCIA Greenhouse Gas Emissions InventoryThe airport has completed its Greenhouse Gas Inventory study. The study was carried out by Synergy Consultants, Inc. using FAA and Transportation Research Board protocols for airport emission studies, and establishes an emission baseline for 1990 and a projection for 2020. Most of the greenhouse gas emissions under the airport’s control result from our consumption of natural gas. Another 30 percent of our emissions were caused by the gasoline and diesel fuels used in our fleet vehicles. Aircraft, airlines, and facilities owned and operated by airport tenants account for 99 percent of total airport-related emissions. The inventory will serve as a tool to
help the airport in its next steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
