ARFF Unit Chief honoredWhile off-duty last November, Captain Bryan Howard, King County International Airport/Boeing Field’s Airport Rescue and Firefighting Unit Chief, was driving on the Auburn-Enumclaw Hightway when he arrived on the scene of a car-tractor accident. The tractor had been hit from behind and was upside down, trapping 15-year-old Kelyn Wallin in a ditch full of water, diesel fuel, and animal waste from a nearby dairy. Howard called emergency responders and then jumped into the ditch and held the boy’s head above the water until rescue crews arrived. The King County Sheriff’s Office honored Howard in May with a Lifesaver Award in a ceremony attended by Wallin and his mother. News home
