Walking to work or transit

Walking is one of the easiest and most rewarding forms of exercise. All you need is a good pair of shoes, comfortable clothing and desire.

What employers can do to support commuting on foot:
  • Remind employees that they can walk part way and then ride transit. Use the Trip Planner to help them with route information.
  • Provide a monthly walking incentive
  • Provide a guaranteed ride home in case of emergency
  • Provide on-site amenities such as lunch facilities and postal services
  • Link walk commuting to a healthy workplace initiative
